Security you can see, and the trade-off nobody mentions
Anti-vandal units do the job they are bought for. A steel shell with shutters down and a proper lock on the door is a genuinely unattractive target compared with a standard cabin on the site next door, and on exposed or unmanned sites that difference is the whole point.
The trade-off is thermal. Steel moves heat efficiently in both directions, so a poorly insulated anti-vandal unit is cold in winter, uncomfortable in summer, and prone to condensation running down the inside of the lining. When we inspect these units, the inner lining and the corners are where we look hardest — staining there tells you the unit has been sweating for years.
If the unit is going to be occupied all day rather than used as a store, ask us about the insulation specifically. It is the difference between a unit people will work in and one they will complain about.

What we check before a steel unit goes out
Shutters and windows
Shutters are run through their travel and freed off where they have stiffened up. A seized shutter is the fault we come across most often on these units.
Doors and locks
Steel doors are heavy and drop on their hinges over time. Hinges and locks are checked so the door shuts and locks properly.
Electrics tested and certified
The installation is tested and certified before the unit leaves us and the paperwork goes with it, so there is no guessing what state the wiring is in.
Most of what we sell has been refurbished, but how much work a particular unit has had varies. Ask about the one you are looking at and we will describe it as it actually is rather than to a standard specification — and if you want anything else putting right before delivery, tell us and we will price it.

Questions about anti-vandal units
What makes a cabin anti-vandal?
Full steel construction rather than a lightweight framed shell, steel personnel doors with concealed hinges and multi-point locking, and steel shutters over the windows. The point is that there is no soft panel to kick through and no obvious lever point.
Are anti-vandal units genuinely secure?
They are substantially harder to get into than a standard cabin, which is usually enough to move an opportunist somewhere easier. They are not a safe. Anything genuinely valuable should not be left in a cabin on an unmanned site overnight, whatever the cabin is made of.
Do they get very cold?
They can. Steel conducts heat out and condensation in, so insulation quality matters more in an anti-vandal unit than almost anywhere else. Check the insulation spec and look for signs of damp on the inner lining before you buy.
Can anti-vandal units be used as offices and canteens?
Yes, and most are. The anti-vandal specification is about the shell and the openings; the inside can be fitted out as an office, canteen, drying room or store in the usual way.
