Privacy policy

Nortons Hiab Services Limited and webuyanycabin.com — what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Introduction

Nortons Hiab Services Limited, trading through webuyanycabin.com, collects and processes your personal information in accordance with this privacy policy. It sets out our obligations and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Nortons Hiab Services Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 06140715 and trading as We Buy Any Cabin, is the data controller for the information described below. Questions about anything on this page can go to info@webuyanycabin.com, or by post to New Street, Manchester, M40 8HD.

Information that we collect from you

Information you provide to us directly may include your name, company name, email address, postal address, telephone number, the postcode of the site involved, details of the cabin, container or unit you are buying or selling, any photographs you attach, and anything else you choose to write in a message.

We also collect information that does not identify you directly, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system and details of the device you are using. We record the IP address a form submission came from and use it only to limit automated and repeated submissions. It is stored against the enquiry and is never included in the notification email we receive.

How we use your personal data

We use your personal data to provide our services to you — to value a unit, to quote for a collection or a delivery, and to answer what you have asked. The lawful basis is that processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, or to perform a contract once one exists. For the IP address, the lawful basis is our legitimate interest in protecting the site from automated abuse.

Where you have consented, we may also use your information to send you offers and marketing. You are free to withdraw that consent at any time.

We respect your privacy at all times. Your information will never be disclosed or shared with others without your consent, unless we are required to do so by law.

Sharing or disclosing your personal data

We do not sell your information and we do not pass it to third parties for their own marketing.

We use third party processors to deliver our services, and those companies process or store information on our behalf — specifically for web hosting, email, invoicing and payments. Where a subcontractor is involved in a particular collection or delivery, we share only what that job requires.

We ensure all processors acting on our behalf act in accordance with this privacy notice.

Photographs you send us

Photographs attached to an enquiry are stored on our server alongside the enquiry record. We may use them internally to value a unit or to plan the lift. We will not publish them on this website or anywhere else without asking you first.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal information that Nortons Hiab Services Limited processes about you. You can ask us for:

  • the personal data we hold about you;
  • the categories of personal data concerned;
  • the purposes of the processing;
  • details of who your personal data has been or will be disclosed to;
  • how long we retain your personal data;
  • where we did not collect the data directly from you, information about its source.

You may also ask us to:

  • update any incomplete or inaccurate data we hold about you;
  • delete your personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR;
  • restrict how we use it, or object to our using it.

To exercise any of these, write to Nortons Hiab Services Limited, New Street, Manchester, M40 8HD, or email info@webuyanycabin.com. We will respond within one month. To keep your data protected, we will ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request.

How long we retain your data

Nortons Hiab Services Limited only retains personal information for as long as it is necessary. Enquiries are kept for as long as we need them to deal with the enquiry and to meet our legal and accounting obligations; those that do not lead to work are reviewed periodically and deleted when they are no longer needed. For further detail on our retention periods, please contact us.

Where you have consented to us using your details for direct marketing, we keep that data until you notify us otherwise or withdraw your consent.

International transfers

The majority of your data is processed in the United Kingdom. Where a processor we use operates outside the UK, we ensure the same standard of protection applies to your personal data, under the transfer mechanisms permitted by UK data protection law.

Security and safeguarding measures

Personal data is transferred and stored securely, using industry standard encryption in transit — this site is served over HTTPS throughout. Files you upload are stored outside the reach of the public website. Please note, however, that no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed completely secure.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file sent from a website and stored on your computer by your browser. Cookies are widely used to add functionality to websites or to help them work more efficiently. To learn more about what cookies are, or how to control or delete them, we recommend aboutcookies.org.

First party cookies

These are set by this website directly. They are the only cookies this site sets.

  • PHPSESSID — a general purpose identifier native to PHP, used to maintain your session. It keeps your form submission secure while you are filling it in and expires when you close your browser.
  • CookieScriptConsent — used by the Cookie-Script.com service to remember your cookie consent preferences. It is necessary for the consent banner to work.

Third party cookies

This site does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, social sharing scripts, embedded video or embedded maps, and it sets no third party cookies. Our consent banner records your consent decision with Cookie-Script.com so that your choice can be evidenced; nothing else on this site contacts an external service.

You can change or withdraw your cookie choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update this page. This version was last reviewed in September 2026.
